Under the aegis of Corporate Social Responsibility, the Company is supporting and participating in various social welfare initiatives.
Tata AIA Life Insurance has partnered with Center for Micro Finance (CMF), an associate organization of the Tata Trust for functional literacy amongst tribal women and digital literacy by way of Community Information Resource Center (CIRC) amongst adolescent youth.
CMF primarily promotes community led microfinance and rural livelihoods in Rajasthan. CMF will work with Grameen Mahila Vikas Sansthan, Digital Empowerment Foundation, Foundation for Education and Development and PRADAN towards this initiative in three districts of Rajasthan- Udaipur, Pali and Sirohi.
The objective of our programme is to provide basic education to women from marginalized communities who are part of self-reliant SHGs formed at district level. These women usually lack basic skills to handle regular SHG as well as household operations. Tata AIA Life Insurance is associated with community centers in 4 blocks of Rajasthan that provide functional literacy to 250 women from surrounding communities. Every center has been allotted with 1 coordinator from the community and facilitates all educational activities in the center.
These centers will be located within the communities and impart basic digital skills to the community people. The main target beneficiary would be the students who will be provided with computer skills along with practical experience to operate the computer. CIRC shall also act as a knowledge hub for community people wherein the villagers can have access to important information like government schemes, employment opportunities, e-registrations, ration card renewal, etc.
At Tata AIA Life Insurance, we believe that the 'Education' plays a key role in socio-economic development of the communities especially from lower strata. The educational values can be inculcated more strongly when the learning becomes fun. Tata AIA Life Insurance shall support the education of slum children from Colaba who are enrolled in municipal schools and belong to age category of 6 to 16 years. Various life skills sessions are also organized along with educational activities. We want to make a difference to their lives so that the children, who initially showed reluctance towards studies, go on to complete their education in a structured manner. Extra coaching to improve their learning outcomes will also be provided. A well planned growth path is set for every child who is a part of this program. The programme is being implemented trough centers located in the heart of the community. Totally, 250 students will be impacted through this program.
Tata AIA Life Insurance has associated with Oscar Foundation to implement this program at Mumbai. Besides educational activities, Tata AIA Life Insurance also conducts various health camps, library donation drives and provides volunteering support with the help of employees.
Besides various flagship programmes, Tata AIA Life Insurance also provides various volunteering opportunities to the employees. The philosophy of Giving Back is an important part of the organizational core values. The employees are provided with wide range of volunteering opportunities wherein they can contribute their time, knowledge and efforts for the social welfare campaigns. These campaigns facilitate direct and sustainable impact on the beneficiaries and hence are always appreciated by various stakeholders. Below mentioned are some highlights of the employee engagement campaigns conducted by Tata AIA Life Insurance.
A plantation drive was conducted at Sundarbans, West Bengal, wherein employees contributed their time and efforts in tree plantation activity. We planted 1843 saplings in Sundarbans which was the second largest plantation drive initiated by Tata AIA Life Insurance. These saplings belong to various categories such as medicinal, herbal, forest trees, etc which also provides livelihood to the nearby communities. Tata AIA Life Insurance initiated the unique eco-friendly concept of customer registration on web portals which enables less usage of papers. We launched e-registration campaign which is backed by environmental cause. As a part of our customer service initiative, Tata AIA Life Insurance pledged to plant 1 tree for every 10 e-registration on the web portal. The campaign was initiated in association with Grow Trees, a tree planting partner of the United Nations.
Tata AIA Life Insurance has been participating in various community outreach drives that are frequently organized by Tata Sustainability Group. These campaigns include programs like medical camps in communities, cleanliness drives, plantations, flash mobs on social issues, educational awareness, etc. Tata AIA Life Insurance employees have always shown a great commitment and enthusiasm in every social activity planned at organizational level.
This is one of the unique initiatives launched by Tata Sustainability Group wherein Tata group employees can nominate and volunteer for various social welfare projects across locations. Tata AIA Life Insurance employees have also been participating in ProEngage programs and working on social projects.
