Occupational safety
Employees exposure to potential safety hazards should be controlled through proper design, engineering and administrative controls, preventive, and where possible, pre-emptive maintenance and safe work procedures. Where hazards cannot be adequately controlled by these means, employees should be provided with appropriate PPEs (personal protective equipment).

Emergency preparedness
Emergency situations and events should be identified and assessed, and their impact minimized, by implementing emergency plans and any applicable/available response procedures including: emergency reporting, employee motivation and evacuation procedures, employees training and drills, appropriate fire detection and suppression equipment, emergency exit facilities and recovery plans.

Occupational injury and illness
Procedures and systems should be placed in order to manage, track and report occupational injury and illness, including provisions to:
- Encourage employee reporting,
- Classify and record injury and illness cases,
- Provide necessary medical treatment, and
- Investigate cases and implement corrective actions to eliminate their causes.
