EPF Form 10C - Meaning, Benefits, Eligibility

EPF Form 10C is a withdrawal and certification form used under the Employees’ Pension Scheme within the EPF system. It is managed by the EPFO for employees who want to access pension-related benefits after leaving a job. The Form 10C helps in claiming pension funds or obtaining a scheme certificate, especially when an employee has not completed long-term service. It plays an important role in ensuring employees can manage their retirement savings from the EPF system in a structured way through the EPFO portal or office process.

What is EPF Form 10C?

EPF Form 10C is an official EPFO claim form used under the Employees’ Pension Scheme for employees who leave service before completing 10 years. It is issued and processed by the EPFO, which manages pension and provident fund benefits for salaried employees under the EPF system.

The 10C form for PF allows employees to manage their pension contributions in the following ways:

  • Enables withdrawal of pension savings when service is less than 10 years.

  • Allows employees to request a scheme certificate for future pension continuity.

  • Supports the smooth transfer of pension benefits when changing jobs.

  • Helps maintain records of pension eligibility within the EPFO system.

In most cases, out of the total 12% employer contribution in EPF, around 8.33% is directed towards EPS, which is linked to Form 10C processing.

For better long-term planning, individuals may also explore saving schemes that support retirement income stability.

  • If you are leaving your job due to permanent disability, you are eligible for a disablement pension, which must be applied for using Form 10D.

What is an EPF scheme certificate and its benefits?

An EPF scheme certificate is issued to members who want to transfer their EPF funds to a new account when changing jobs. It is issued by the EPFO and contains important information about the member, such as employment history, family members, legal nominees, and related details. It serves as authentic proof of the member’s service.

The main benefits of an EPF scheme certificate are:

  • The service period with the previous organisation will be taken into account when switching to a new organisation.

  • If the member dies before re-employment, family members or nominees may receive pension benefits. If the member survives, they can withdraw a lump-sum amount after reaching retirement.
