The minimum and maximum age for maternity health insurance is 18 and 45. In addition, there can be a limit to utilising the benefits for up to two pregnancies. However, the eligibility criteria can differ for the individual insurance providers.

Can I purchase maternity health insurance if I am pregnant?

Insurance providers generally consider pregnancy a pre-existing health condition, and the coverage will not be offered as it is beyond their scope. However, it is subject to the individual insurance provider's policy terms and conditions.

What is the waiting period for mediclaim for pregnancy?

The waiting period refers to the specific period from the date of purchase of your maternity insurance, after which you can file a claim for the financial benefits for your pregnancy expenses. The waiting period differs for individual insurance providers and can range from 9 months to 8 years.
