Is any charge levied on credit card payments?
Yes. A convenience charge is applicable on premium payments made via credit card, towards payment gateway processing costs.
Is the convenience fee/charge applicable to wallet payments as well?
Yes. Convenience charges are also applicable on payments made via digital wallets, in line with payment gateway charges associated with wallet transactions. The applicable fee, if any, will be displayed during checkout prior to payment confirmation.
What is the convenience fee/charge levied towards?
The convenience charge is levied to cover payment gateway charges associated with credit card and wallet transactions. As followed across various industries, this charge is paid by the customer directly to the payment gateway for facilitating the transaction.
Is this a prevalent practice across industries?
Yes. Passing on convenience fees for credit card and wallet transactions is a common and well‑established practice across multiple industries such as utility bill payments, e‑commerce platforms, and general insurance providers. In recent times, several life insurance companies have also adopted this approach to cover payment gateway‑related costs.
How much is the convenience fee/charge?
The convenience fee may vary based on the type of credit card used for payment, such as Visa, MasterCard, Diners, RuPay, American Express, or international cards.
The applicable charge—up to 1.5% plus GST on the convenience fee—will be clearly displayed during the online payment process before the transaction is completed.
Is the convenience fee/charge applicable on international cards?
Yes. Convenience charges are applicable on credit cards issued both in India and abroad.
Is the convenience fee/charge applicable for all payment methods?
No. The convenience charge is applicable only for Credit Card and Wallet payments.
No convenience fee is applicable for payments made via Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
Can I avoid paying the convenience fee/charge?
Yes. To avoid convenience charges, you may choose to pay via Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI, where no such fee is applicable.

If my premium payment is refunded or reversed, will the convenience fee/charge be refunded?
No. The convenience fee is non‑refundable, as it is charged at the transaction level by the payment gateway, irrespective of any subsequent refund or reversal of the premium amount.
When will the premium be debited from my account if I opt for the Standing Instruction facility?
If you have opted for the Standing Instruction facility, the instruction is sent to your bank 7 days in advance, and the premium will be debited on the due date. We thank you for your trust and commitment to timely payments.
